Hokkaido University introduced the Hokudai Tenure-track System common to all departments in 2007 to spread and establish its tenure-track system over the entire University. In April 2019, the University also adopted the Department Tenure-track Certification System.
The Department Tenure-track Certification System is designed to certify a department that establishes a tenure-track of its own that meets certain requirements. Tenure-track faculty members employed by a certified department are also qualified to receive various forms of support and programs from the Front Office for Human Resource Education and Development (FOHRED).
The University is determined to further spread and establish its new tenure-track system by operating these two systems.
